Sierra: $400M+ a year in ARR (reported, not verified)

Data checked Nov 5, 2026 · How we verify

Short answer

Sierra says it passed $400 million a year in recurring revenue (ARR) in late October 2026, adding over $150M in Q3 alone (Sierra blog, Oct 30, 2026). It went from $200M to $400M in five months. Reported, not verified

Nothing on this page is processor-verified. Sierra is private, so these are the company's own posts and press reports, each linked with its date. We did not estimate any revenue number; where we do math on reported figures, we say so. For AI businesses whose payment data we can check, see the verified AI revenue leaderboard.

How much revenue does Sierra make?

Sierra builds AI agents that answer customers for big companies. Here is how its reported numbers have moved:

Oct 30, 2026$400M+ ARR; added $150M+ in Q3 alone, more than all of 2025Sierra blog (Bret Taylor, Clay Bavor)

ARR = annual recurring revenue, the yearly value of current contracts, not revenue already collected. Sierra does not publish a revenue total for 2025; it says its Q3 2026 additions alone (over $150M of ARR) were more than all of last year. Dates for $100M and $200M are when the founders posted them.

How fast is Sierra growing?

Faster each time. The company's own timeline: seven quarters to $100M, then six months to $200M, then five months to $400M+ (Oct 30, 2026). Our math: about 4x in the 11 months since late November 2025.

The founders give three reasons: customers pushing to do more with agents, agents moving from one-off support chats to conversations that run for "weeks or months and drive revenue," and faster setup with its Ghostwriter tool. Their example: a US retailer with more than $40B in revenue went from first meeting to a live agent in 27 days (same post).

We found no newer priced round as of Nov 1, 2026. Our math: $15.8B is about 40x the $400M ARR Sierra reported in October.

How does Sierra make money?

It charges for outcomes, not seats or tokens. Sierra's own description: you pay when the agent completes a task, "such as a resolved support conversation, a saved cancellation, an upsell, a cross-sell," and "if the conversation is unresolved, in most cases, there's no charge" (Sierra blog on outcome-based pricing). The Oct 30 post lists outcomes like "a loan refinanced, an insurance claim paid, a sale closed, a customer retained."

Sierra publishes no price list. Buyer guides estimate the following; Sierra has not confirmed any of it:

Several of these guides are published by companies that compete with Sierra. Treat them as a rough range, not list prices.

Who are Sierra's customers?

Mostly very large, regulated companies. CNBC named Prudential, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield and Rocket Mortgage, plus one in three of the world's largest banks (May 4, 2026). In October Sierra said it works with almost 50% of the Fortune 50 (Oct 30, 2026). In February it said one in four customers has revenue over $10B and half over $1B (Feb 6, 2026).

What does Sierra mean for automating a business with AI?

Customer service is where AI agents are earning real money first. Bret Taylor told CNBC about $400 billion a year is spent on customer service, and that most of it is moving to AI agents (his estimate). Podium reports the same pattern for local businesses: over $150M a year from its AI agents (reported, Oct 2026).

You don't need to be Sierra to use this. Small businesses can buy self-serve support agents today, and small founders are selling them. These AI support businesses have Stripe-verified revenue in our data:

FAQ

How much does Sierra make?

Sierra says it passed $400 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) the week of Oct 30, 2026, about two and a half years after launching. It added more than $150 million of ARR in Q3 2026 alone, which it says is more than it generated in all of 2025 (Sierra blog, Oct 30, 2026). Reported by the company, not verified: Sierra is private.

How fast is Sierra growing?

It took seven quarters to reach $100M ARR (late Nov 2025), six months to double to $200M (late May 2026) and five months to double again to $400M+ (Oct 2026), per the company. Our math: that is about 4x in 11 months.

What is Sierra valued at?

Its last priced round was a $950 million Series E at a $15.8 billion post-money valuation, led by Tiger Global and GV, announced May 4, 2026 (CNBC). It was valued at $10 billion in fall 2025. Our math: $15.8B is about 40x its current $400M ARR, and was about 80x the $200M it reached a few weeks after the round.

How much does Sierra cost?

Sierra publishes no prices. It charges for outcomes, such as a resolved conversation, a saved cancellation or an upsell, and in most cases does not charge for unresolved or escalated conversations (Sierra blog on outcome-based pricing). Third-party buyer guides estimate about $150,000 a year and up, $1 to $2.50 per outcome and $50,000 to $200,000 for setup; Sierra has not confirmed any of those figures.

What does Sierra sell?

AI agents that handle customer conversations for large companies, by chat and phone: returns, insurance claims, mortgage refinancing, subscription saves. Customers named by press include Prudential, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield and Rocket Mortgage, and Sierra says it works with almost 50% of the Fortune 50 (Sierra blog, Oct 30, 2026).

Can a small business make money with AI customer service agents?

Yes, at a much smaller scale. Small AI support and chatbot businesses in our data have Stripe-verified revenue: see Adelante (AI support for Shopify stores), ChatDash and DM Champ on The AI Receipts. They sell to small businesses with self-serve plans, not to the Fortune 50.
