Which AI education business makes the most money?

DataExpert.io, by a wide margin: $53,200 MRR from 830 subscriptions, $1,360,000 in the last 12 months and $4,800,000 all-time since March 2023 (Stripe via TrustMRR, Nov 3, 2026). It sells structured data-engineering and AI programs to working engineers at $119 a month, with free cloud access to tools like Databricks, AWS and Snowflake (per its listing). AI is the curriculum here, not the product engine.

The engine is the founder. Zach Wilson has about 51,300 X followers (TrustMRR) and sells through his own content on X and LinkedIn. His first bootcamp filled about five weeks after it was announced in March 2023 (founder-reported, on the case page).

Do AI language-learning apps make money?

One does, fast. Verbi has learners practise real conversations with an AI tutor instead of flashcards. It was founded in April 2026 and has collected $268,000 in 7 months; MRR is $22,800 from 4,900 subscriptions, up 11.3% in 30 days (RevenueCat via TrustMRR, Nov 3, 2026). A bootstrapped team of 2–5 built it in React Native for iOS and Android from day one.

The catch is price. At about $5 per subscription a month (our calc.), Verbi needs thousands of learners where DataExpert.io needs hundreds. That is the usual consumer-app trade-off; more in cheap AI apps that make real money and AI mobile apps and their revenue.

Can you make money selling an AI course?

Yes, but both course businesses in our data run on the founder's audience. DataExpert.io (~51,300 X followers) sells to engineers; AI Persona Method (AI Money Group) (~5,500) teaches business owners and marketers to build AI personas for marketing and support, plus an "AI Certified Consultant" program. It has $378,000 all-time revenue since February 2025 and $9,700 MRR from 100 subscriptions (Stripe via TrustMRR, Nov 3, 2026).

If you don't have an audience yet, the app route (Verbi) or a tool for students is the realistic one. See AI apps that make money without an audience.

Why is AI education revenue so lumpy?

Because people pay for courses in launches and for apps in yearly plans. Verified revenue by month (cash collected):

BusinessMay 2026Aug 2026Sep 2026Oct 2026MRR, 30 days
DataExpert.io$58,700$171,000$49,300$58,200-6.1%
Verbi$3,200$36,800$129,000$32,600+11.3%
AI Persona Method (AI Money Group)$12,100$22,600$1,900$2,100+0.7%

Monthly verified revenue (UTC months) and 30-day MRR change from each company's public TrustMRR profile, read Nov 3, 2026 ~6:35 AM CT. October is a full month.

  • Verbi collected $129,000 in September, about 5.6x its current MRR (our calc.). Last-30-days revenue running above MRR is the yearly-plan pattern we flag on its case page, so a strong September of annual sign-ups shows up as one huge month (our read).
  • DataExpert.io swings between about $49,300 and $171,000 a month in 2026; its biggest month in the last year was Dec 2025 at $251,000. That pattern fits cohort launches (our read).
  • AI Persona Method (AI Money Group) shows $9,700 MRR but only $2,100 collected in the last 30 days, about 5x less (our calc.). Cash was $22,600 in August, then about $2,000 a month in September and October. We flag the gap on its case page; MRR is what TrustMRR computes from active subscriptions, not cash in the bank.

Are AI education businesses profitable?

We only show profit where the founder published it. Two of the three list a 30-day profit margin on TrustMRR: Verbi 55% and AI Persona Method (AI Money Group) 90% (founder-entered, not verified by a processor, read Nov 3, 2026). DataExpert.io does not list one. Course businesses have few running costs beyond the founder's time; an app pays for AI model calls on every lesson, which fits the lower margin (our read). What about AI tools for students and job seekers?

Some of the biggest learner-facing businesses in our data are tagged under other markets (productivity), so they are not in the totals above:

The pattern: the money is in getting someone a job or a grade, not in "learning" in general. Rezi, an AI resume builder, is #2 on the whole leaderboard. More in how much AI writing tools make.

  • DataExpert.io pricing level: about 160 paying customers at ~$64 each.
  • Verbi pricing level: about 2,000 paying customers at ~$5 each.
  • AI Persona Method (AI Money Group) pricing level: about 110 paying customers at ~$94 each.

Our calc. from verified MRR ÷ active subscriptions (Nov 3, 2026). A professional course needs around a hundred buyers; a consumer learning app needs a couple of thousand. Pricing across all 58 ranked businesses: the AI app pricing study.

Should you start an AI education business in 2026?

Pick by what you already have. An audience of professionals: sell a focused program at a professional price, like DataExpert.io. No audience but you can ship an app: pick one skill people already pay to practise (speaking, interviews, exams) and charge yearly, like Verbi. Our case verdicts: DataExpert.io "Partly", Verbi "Yes", AI Persona Method (AI Money Group) "Partly". Three businesses is a small sample; treat it as a signal.
