How much does Comp AI make? $765k in 30 days, but only $13k MRR

The AI Receipts, published by Bambana LLC · Data checked Oct 28, 2026 · How we verify

Short answer

Comp AI made $765,000 in the last 30 days selling AI that gets companies SOC 2, ISO 27001 and HIPAA compliant, verified from Stripe by TrustMRR on Oct 28, 2026. That is about $9.2M a year at the current pace (our calc., not a company figure). Its listed MRR is only $13,000, because most customers don't pay month to month. Verified Funding: company-reported

Comp AI isn't on our leaderboard, which ranks by MRR. Its MRR covers under 2% of the money it actually collects, so ranking it on MRR would put a $9M-a-year pace below apps making $15k a month. We cover it here instead.

What is Comp AI's revenue?

MRR (monthly subscriptions only)$13,000 (56 subscriptions)
Customers1,000+ (company-reported)
Funding$37.5M total, incl. $34M Series A (Sep 2026)

Last-30-days, all-time, MRR and subscriptions: TrustMRR's live page, read Oct 28, 2026. Other periods: TrustMRR's public profile snapshot synced the same day ($763,000 last 30 days, $14,500 MRR from 57 subscriptions at that sync), so the two can differ slightly.

Why is Comp AI's MRR so much lower than its revenue?

MRR only counts monthly subscriptions. Comp AI's $13,000 MRR is about 1.7% of the $765,000 it collected in the last 30 days (our calc.). The rest comes in other ways. Comp AI doesn't say how it splits, but its pricing points to the reason: there is no rate card, and every customer gets a quote based on frameworks, headcount, deadline and whether an audit or pen test is included (pricing page, Oct 28, 2026). Quoted B2B software is usually paid yearly or per project, so it shows up as large one-off payments, not MRR. That's our read, not a statement from the company.

The lesson for anyone reading revenue dashboards: for sales-led B2B companies, look at last-30-days or 12-month revenue, not MRR.

How fast is Comp AI growing?

When it announced its Series A, Comp AI said it had grown ARR 15x year over year and passed 1,000 customers (press release, Sep 17, 2026). It didn't give an ARR figure, so we can't check the 15x against the payment data.

How does Comp AI compare with the AI businesses on our leaderboard?

Comp AI is a venture-backed company with a sales team, not an indie app, so it isn't a like-for-like comparison. It shows what B2B buyers will pay when software removes a blocker to closing deals.

How much does Comp AI cost?

There's no public price. The pricing page says the number depends on four things: frameworks in scope, company size, timeline, and audit or security needs. You get it on a 20-minute call. Adding a second framework costs less than starting fresh, because controls overlap (Comp AI pricing, checked Oct 28, 2026). There's also a free, self-hosted Community Edition.

Is Comp AI open source, and how does that make money?

Comp AI Community Edition is open source under AGPLv3 and free to self-host. The paid product, Comp AI Cloud, is a separate codebase with managed hosting and support (GitHub README). It's the same model as Postiz, the top business on our leaderboard at $324,000 MRR (TrustMRR, Oct 28 2026): give the software away, then sell hosting, convenience and support to the people who'd rather pay than run it.

What does Comp AI teach about making money with AI?

  • Automate a chore that blocks revenue. Nobody wants to do compliance, but big B2B customers ask for a SOC 2 report before they sign. "For a lot of software companies, security and compliance are directly tied to revenue," CEO Lewis Carhart told TechCrunch (Sep 17, 2026). When software unlocks a sale, the price is easy to justify.
  • Build what you needed yourself. The founders came up with it after doing their own SOC 2 by hand at a previous startup, LeapAI, which they shut down (TechCrunch).
  • Keep humans in the loop. Agents draft policies and collect evidence, and a person reviews and approves. The software doesn't replace the independent auditor.

Smaller versions of the same idea, an AI agent that does one tedious business task end to end, are in our verified data: NotFair (Google Ads), AEO Engine (AI search visibility) and Cometly (ad attribution).
