What does Chatbase sell?
No-code AI agents for customer support, sales and product guidance. The agents run across chat, email, voice, WhatsApp and Slack, so customers don't have to build their own AI infrastructure. Plans listed on TrustMRR: Free, Hobby $40/mo, Standard $150/mo, Pro $500/mo and Enterprise (custom). Annual plans are 20% less. The listing says 10,000+ businesses use it, mostly support, CX and sales teams.
At ~$70 per subscription per month (our calc.: MRR ÷ subscriptions), Chatbase is close to the median for the 26 verified AI SaaS businesses in our data (~$61/mo; see the AI app pricing study). Its size comes from subscription volume, not an unusually high price.
How did Chatbase grow?
Yasser Elsaid built Chatbase in his final year of university as "ChatGPT for your PDFs". He has said the MVP took about two months, and he launched it with a tweet to his 16 followers on Feb 2, 2023. The tweet went viral before there was even a pricing page. He shared his early MRR in an Indie Hackers interview (May 2023): Self-reported

Besides the viral tweets and AI influencers, he named four repeatable channels: Product Hunt, story-style posts on relevant subreddits, staying active on Indie Hackers, and submitting to AI directories. At the time, most revenue came from the $399/month plan. Those are 2023 plans that have since changed.

Where do Chatbase's signups come from now?
Update, Oct 17, 2026: On October 16, 2026, Yasser Elsaid posted on X: "37% of all Chatbase signups come from ChatGPT and Claude." In the same post he said Chatbase ranks on the first page for "AI customer support" and that he is hiring a founding growth marketer to focus on AEO (answer engine optimization), with the goal of "100% mention rate for any query about customer facing agents for support, sales, and engagement." He did not share the signup count behind the 37% or a time window, so we can't check it. It is a share of signups, not of revenue. The verified MRR above is still the Jul 31, 2026 TrustMRR sync.

Not in the same horizontal form. The founder said himself that being early drove his growth, and today Chatbase has a 3-year head start and an Ahrefs Domain Rating of 81 (per TrustMRR).
